Introducing Michael’s second suite of 112 professional User Programs!

If you’re new to my User Programs (UPGs)—welcome! If you already play my first suite of UPGs, I’m excited to share my new creations with you. The centrepiece of this suite is my “Acoustic” Accordion Bank, modelled after my own acoustic concert accordion, Pigini NOVA #002. The results are sonically satisfying, but perhaps even better, the bellows also feel more responsive. This is the result of all reeds—their types, ratios, volumes, equalization, stereo field, background noise, and hidden background instruments—all being meticulously balanced and refined on hundreds of sound systems for 6+ years.

Next, I took my new accordion sounds and built bands around them. I frequently perform music for vintage silent films, so I included many of my best cinematic sounds designed for Phantom of the Opera (1929) and my user programs for Astor Piazzolla’s Oblivion, which lives in the same sound world. I wanted to include an SFX bank; these sonic experiments use free-bass, but it doesn’t matter if you play free-bass or not! The notes don’t matter—just press any button and use your rhythmic and melodic creatively to realize a fantasy world.
